I just bought a running LS2 out of a non-wrecked Corvette at a screaming good price. I very much trust the person I’m getting it from and it is apparently making a little smoke on start up and needs a ring job. Not unusual for this engine. Soooo, what should I do with it?!

why did you buy it?
![]() 12/15/2015 at 13:05 |

Bought it without having something to put it in?

Whatever your significant other drives. Make it exciting too.

Put it in an Evo

Build an Atom-style chassis around it. Equip it with proper running gear. Hoon.

Isn’t the answer always Miata?

read this and saw “rim job” not ring job.

Obviously: LS2-powered SL2.

Go find a 944 and order a kit from Renegade Hybrids or Texas Performance.

miata is always the answer

He said it was cheap.
Listen to you “Why did you buy that v8 motor?”
I don’t even know who you are anymore.
![]() 12/15/2015 at 14:08 |

Give it to me so I can stuff it in my truck. I’ll back it up with a 3-speed manual with electric overdrive to keep it properly jalop levels of weird.

This sounds like my wife:
Honey, why did you buy 25 boxes of cereal?
Cause it was on sale, duh.

Very interested in this. 944 good. Streched mr2 or Fiero. Or us it to make the best Typhoon ever.

No suggestion on what to put it in but just wanted to drop in and say that you made a wise decision. Also, if you have swap questions after selecting the candidate feel free to ask.

$600 for a running 2005 Vette motor.

I might go with a boxy S10 Blazer/pickup from the early 90’s/late 80s.

That came to mind. Here is my thought. The Exoset uses the Miata as a chassis. There are LS2 to Miata swaps out there. A+B=C

LS2 Starion? I like.

That would be interesting. The engine in mine is doing fine though.

She drives my 2003 Evo most of the time and I'm in her 2005 Cooper S. This is because kids and gas milage.

You question that logic. May I see your Jalop card please?

Bingo!

While you are in there, change the steering to a Nissan rack and pinion. Mitsu decided their premier sports car needed a recirculating ball gear box.

![]() 12/15/2015 at 18:40 |

It would like a new motor and makes more sense than a 944
![]() 12/15/2015 at 18:55 |

That's kind of scary.

Ms Christine drives a 944. Satisfaction oozes from her pours.

So you did not get the harness and ECU at that price, correct?
![]() 12/15/2015 at 20:52 |
|
No. No accessories. It is still a good price, but it is just the engine.

Yep. I just wonder without the other parts, do you come out that far ahead.
I really want another Conquest but I don’t want the crap steering or the GB54 boat anchor.
I’ve been thinking LS power but I have also thought about the GMC I-6 from the Trailblazer + a 5 speed from a Soltice. Something in me just cannot hear a Conquest with a puh-patta-puh-patta of a cross plane V8.

From what I can tell from the internet I think it was a pretty awesome deal. Looks like the accessories aren’t that steep. Everywhere I've looked they have been over $2k. But, like a lot of things in life it is not what you got, but how you use it.
![]() 12/15/2015 at 22:12 |
|
I wonder if a gmc van harness and ECU gets you there? That is a thought.
![]() 12/15/2015 at 22:21 |

Interestng idea. One of my friends is very knowledgeable about GM products. I need to sit down with him and find out what prices are needed to get it running. We have our LeMons prepped 240SX sitting in the years. Very tempting, but I think we would get infinite penalty laps and I think I can find something better to do with the engine.

Short field ready.
![]() 12/16/2015 at 00:02 |

In all seriousness, if memory serves I believe they offer an LS conversion for the Seabee. No field necessary.

Sweet baby jesus that is real cheap! That’s is the cheapest 430hp I’ve ever seen.
